There are many different ways to approach a 1000 calorie diet. 1,000 calories is not an exact calorie amount. It is a general number that defines the minimum amount of calories needed daily to keep your body functioning and healthy. 

Depending on your lifestyle and activity level 1,000 calories will either leave you starving and unsatisfied or it could end up being way too much for you depending on your body mass and loads of other factors.

Now, you have to bear in mind that the 1,000 calorie diet was created for people with already large metabolisms. This means that people who eat more than their body requires each day will not get the same results from this diet.

The 1,000 calorie diet is a very extreme diet and I cannot recommend you follow it. However, the idea behind the diet is that you eat as little as possible to lose weight. You cut down your intake of calories below 1,000. Most people only need 2,500 calories a day to maintain their weight; this diet suggests that if you eat less than 1,000 calories, you will start losing weight.

If you are eating 1,200 calories a day, your diet plan should include foods that are high in carbohydrates. Strong carbohydrates, like vegetables and fruit drinks, are rich in vitamins A and C. 

You need these vitamins to ensure that your immune system is strong enough to fight off colds, flu, and other ailments. Carbohydrates are also needed to keep your nervous system functioning properly.

Is 800 calories a day safe?

You have probably heard over and over again that to lose weight you should not drop below the 1,200 calorie mark. That’s especially so if you are an active person or have experienced yo-yo dieting in the past.

Before I knew how to lose weight, I used to think that too, because that was how it was always preached to me by doctors and online fitness coaches. Now, however, I understand that to lose weight does not mean starving yourself! Besides, 800 calories aren’t nearly enough to make serious changes in your physique or be healthy.

The idea of eating 800 calories a day is that you will lose weight at the rate of 1-2 pounds per week. In fact, a recent study found that 800 calories/day was one of the lowest daily caloric intakes in relation to maintaining a stable weight. And this caloric intake resulted in stable weight since it forces the body to burn its own fat stores for energy instead of burning lean tissue.

If you want to lose a pound a day it takes commitment and focus. You need to control what you eat and how much and when you eat it and exercise regularly. You can’t just go on a diet and expect weight loss miracles to happen overnight. All your habits will change once you decide to lose weight.

There are many ways to lose a pound a day; whether you want to cut out all sweet things for a week, or simply skip the cookie at lunch, you will lose weight! As always, there are no “wacky diets” here.
